The acting President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Ferguson Okoye has called on the Igbos in Lagos to device more ways to work harmoniously with the leadership and Government of Lagos State.
This he said when he led the lagos State executives to pay a
courtesy visit to the Liaison Office of the Imo State government in Lagos. He recalled
that during the war,
Igbos were accommodated at the Isale Eko Palace, and the
properties of the Igbos were not taken away from them after the war. According
to him, “the Yorubas have not been bad to the Igbos after all”.
He said he has it on good authority; there are about seven
million Igbos in Lagos, who cannot afford to toil with their investments which
include properties, in Lekki, Amowo-Odofin, Victoria- Island and other places
in Lagos.
He called on all Igbos to unite with Ohaneze as they strive
to work more with Lagos State government to achieve more.
Responding, the Imo State Liaison Officer Mr. Steve Asimobi,
applauded the willing spirit of Ohaneze.
He used the opportunity to give highlights of the so many works of Dr.
Rochas Okorocha in Imo State, which includes free education up to tertiary
level, a hospital for each of the local governments, construction of over 500 kilometers
of roads, among others.
He announced that Governor Akinwumi Ambode has given about
five hectares of land for the construction of Igbo Centre in Lagos.
He called on Igbos to support and join hands with Lagos
State government to build a new Lagos.
