A report by the Eagle Online said the militants attacked the patrol van in which the policemen drove and that the car was left riddled with bullets. Soldiers were drafted to the scene where another round of gun battle began leaving residents trapped in their houses.
Reports say the gun battle between militants and security operatives earlier on Tuesday, July 26, led to the death of six policemen. The incident happened in Adaxson community on LASU Road in Lagos state.
Militant groups are currently in Lagos and accused of carrying out attacks.
Report had it that the militants stormed Ewedogbon community in the Igando area of the state shooting sporadically and killing residents.
The report said the militants are also battling with another set of militants in the creek over a deal gun sour. Sources said the money, which came from the deal that took place in Ikorodu area of the state, was whisked away by one of the militants who was tracked to the Igando creek and that this was the genesis of the gun duel experienced in the area early Tuesday, July 26. The report however said the militants did not meet their target and thus decided to go for his godfather, who is said to have been killed alongside a police official attached to him.
Police public relations officer in the state, Dolapo Badmus, confirmed the invasion by the militants, there is yet to be an official statement concerning the report that policemen died in the incident.
