Diego Costa close to Atletico return for £40m

Atletico Madrid have reportedly stepped up their interest in Chelsea’s star striker Diego Costa as the Spanish giants are increasingly confident to seal the deal in the coming days.

Los Rojiblancos are keen to sign their player back whom they sold to Chelsea for £32million in 2014 with return looking closer than before at the moment.

The officials of Atletico Madrid have decided to put an around £40m to lure the star back in Vincente Calderon for the upcoming season.

Diego Costa was an instant hit at Atletico as he scored a massive 56 goals in his two seasons at Madrid which prompted Chelsea to make the move for the talented striker.

The 27-year old has managed an impressive 20 goals in his debut season at Chelsea leading them to a domestic double but had a below par 12 goals in 28 appearances last season which saw the Blues finish at 10th position in Premier League.

New boss Antonio Conte is keen to keep the high-profile striker at Stamford Bridge but has no guarantee as the Brazil-born Spanish international adds fuel to the speculation with a bizarre social media message.

Conte is reportedly looking to sign back Romelu Lukaku from  Everton with Blues having already bid £57m but the Toffees are looking for a sum of around £75m to let their star leave Goodison Park.
