Photos of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni making a phone
call by the roadside and being waited for by his entire presidential escort has
had Kenyans and Ugandans alike buzzing on social media.
The President was said to be On the way from
Isingiro
District yesterday. President Museveni stopped at Kyeirumba Village to make a
phone call. Curious residents gathered to look at the president, who after 30
minutes on phone, briefly interacted with them. They thanked the government for
tarmacking the road linking Uganda to Tanzania through Isingiro. The picture
has gone viral on social media.
Also, we got the phone President Yoweri Museveni uses. It’s a small, black phone otherwise referred
to by Kenyans as a “mulika mwizi”. It is a handy phone for people who live in
villages that have no electricity. It
has among other things, a radio and a torch.
In the 21 century, the president has refused to be moved by
the changing times- he does not even carry the phone in his pocket, after using
it, he hands it back to his official phone handler.
