British former Prime Minister David Cameron tendered his
resignation as Conservative parliamentarian, two months after leaving his post
as prime minister, defeated in his campaign against Brexit.
Cameron said that his resignation as parliamentarian
representing Oxfordshire during 15 years is because it is difficult to hold the
seat without influencing the decisions to be taken in the coming months by his
successor Theresa May.
Amid such decisions is the implementation of Brexit, as it
is called UK exit from the European Union (EU), against which Cameron fought a
fierce battle until the referendum held last June 23rd, in which 51.9 percent
of the British population voted in favor of Brexit.
After the end of his term as prime minister on July 13th,
which he held since 2010, Cameron expressed his willingness to complete his
term as parliamentarian until 2020 and he even gave support to May, although he
admitted that he kept his own views, in clear reference to his opposition to
negotiations for Brexit.
