The Managing Director of West Ham United, Mr Angus Kinnear
has said that West Ham United of England has never been in a hurry to identify
working partners because of their vision and value until they met Ifeanyi Ubah
FC Chairman, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah.
He made this remarks
during the official unveiling of the historic partnership between Ifeanyi Ubah
and West Ham United at Eko Hotel and Suites Lagos, to the Nigerian media and Football
Family.
The visiting West Ham United delegation which included the Marketing
manager revealed that the partnership will see the swapping of players between
the London Club and Fc Ifeanyi Ubah.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Club, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
assured the media that the 300million dollar games village under construction at
Nnewi will be ready before the end of the year. He reiterated his plans to invest
massively into football which he described as a multibillion business.
“Our talent hunt will retain players in the Nnewi academy
for their lectures, studies and training which will definitely produce players
in the likes Messi, and Ronaldo from Nigeria”. He said.
He vowed to do to football what he did in the oil and gas
industry in Nigeria.
Speaking during the ceremony in Lagos, the Chairman of
Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick commended Ifeanyi Ubah for bringing
back the lost glory of the Nigerian local league especially for bringing Brazilians
and foreigners to play in our League.
He said the NFF is working hard with the Nigerian League
management board to ensure Nigeria has the best league in Africa.
He announced that match officiating is now a serious venture
and that about ten referees who did not help the standard of the league in the
just concluded season has automatically retired themselves.
Dignitaries who were present at the ceremony included, the
NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, Chairman Senate Committee on sports , Sen. Obinna
Ogba, Chairman, League management board, Malam Shehu Diko, officials of West
Ham United, former Super Eagles players, Henry Nwosu, Yobo Joseph, Taribo West,
Julius Aghahowa, Victor Ikpeba, Victor AGali, Representative of the Sports Minister,
Sport writers, Reps of Lagos Coalition of
Market leaders and a host of others.
