'You can go to hell' Philippine President Tells Obama

PHILIPPINE leader Rodrigo Duterte has told Barack Obama to "go to hell" and said if the US refused to sell weapons to his country he would buy them from Russia or China.

Relations between the two countries have been strained since Mr Duterte's election in May.

He called Mr Obama a "son of a b****" last month and warned him not to question his policy of extrajudicial killings which has seen around 2,400 people killed by death squads deployed in a war on drugs.

The firebrand politician has now threatened a foreign policy shake-up, accused the US of "failing the Philippines" and insisted: "I will break up with America".Rodrigo Duterte likens himself to HITLER and vows to kill drug addicts
He raged: "Although it may sound s*** to you, it is my sacred duty to keep the integrity of this republic and the people healthy.

"If you don't want to sell arms, I'll go to Russia. I sent the generals to Russia and Russia said 'do not worry, we have everything you need, we'll give it to you'.

"And as for China, they said 'just come over and sign and everything will be delivered'."

Mr Duterte said he would be reviewing a two-year-old US-Philippines Enhanced Defence Co-operation Agreement which gives US troops some access to Philippines bases and allows them to set up storage facilities for maritime security and humanitarian and disaster response operations.

He said Washington should have supported the Philippines over its drugs problems but instead chose to criticise it for the high death toll, as did the European Union.
He said: "Instead of helping us, the first to hit was the State Department. So you can go to hell, Mr Obama, you can go to hell.

"EU, better choose purgatory. Hell is full already. Why should I be afraid of you?"

He later said he was feeling emotional because the US had not been a friend of the Philippines since May.

He said: "They just reprimand another president in front of the international community.

"This is what happens now. I will be reconfiguring my foreign policy. Eventually, I might in my time break up with America."
