Abductors of two wives of Nasarawa Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed, on Saturday reportedly demanded N50m ransom before they would be released. It was gathered that the kidnappers had made repeated calls to Ahmed threatening not to release his wives unless the ransom was paid.
“They (kidnappers) demanded that I should give them plenty money, but I told them that I don’t have money to give anybody,” Ahmed told our correspondent in a telephone interview.
The gunmen had invaded Nasarawa town on Thursday night, abducted the commissioner’s two wives and took them to an undisclosed destination. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq Bello, said, “The police are still investigating the matter to ensure that the victims are rescued from the hands of their abductors.”
