MIKEL HAS MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE MOVING TO CHINA-----DANIEL AMOKACHI

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Amokachi said the Super Eagles Captain's move was a huge one. The midfielder had an eleven-year stay in Chelsea winning ten major trophies before moving to Asia this month after initially ruling out a move to Chinese league. Mikel signed a three-year contract worth £140,000-a-week.

"Is it a crime for him to earn £140, 000 in a week? I don't think it is," Amokachi noted. "Mikel is 30 years old, he should make all the money that he can make. For me, I'm very happy that he had the opportunity to earn that kind of money," the former Super Eagles Assistant Coach added.
He insisted that the Nigeria Football Federation's position on players plying their trades in China not getting national team invitations was no longer holding water.

"Half of the Brazilian national team players are playing in China so why not Nigeria?"

Speaking on the increment in the number of teams to the world Cup, Amokachi said it was a welcomed development. He however, noted that the new arrangement now means the participating teams will have to play more games to win the competition. On the additional four slots for Africa, Amokachi said

"we have to wait and see if it will work. It is well overdue, anyway."
